Community Inclusions Ltd.

Stephen Dunn has been a client of Community Inclusions Ltd for more than 10 years. During that time, Dunn has participated in various training opportunities and worked in several seasonal jobs.“Stephen has always been eager to gain new skills and help others whenever he can,” said Natalie Horne Gallant, Employment Services Manager.

Community Inclusions is a non-profit organization in West Prince that provides supports to adults aged 18-65 with intellectual disabilities. Their Employment Services Program helps individuals with intellectual disabilities find and maintain meaningful employment within their communities.For the past two years, Dunn has been working for the Town of O’Leary on a year-round, part-time basis as a general cleaner. He has many responsibilities within the building. Some of his tasks include sweeping and scrubbing floors, taking out the garbage, sanitizing surfaces, and cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen. He also performs various other duties throughout the week.

Dunn said in the beginning he faced some challenges, and the job coach assisted him by creating a job task analysis. He also shared that, over the years, staff within the Employment Services Program have helped him feel more confident, while also giving him the opportunity to meet new people and have new experiences.“Stephen is always punctual, helpful, and completes his job in a timely manner,” said O’Leary Chief Administrative Officer Joanie Chislett.“The Town of O’Leary has always been very inclusive and has supported this position for years,” added Horne Gallant. “Last year, the town contracted the Employment Services program to weed, mulch, and plant flowers throughout the town.

This provided individuals with part-time seasonal employment opportunities. We are very grateful for the town’s support and its recognition of the talent and skills of the individuals we serve.
